*EDO 2024: Edo Youth Movement Inaugurates EXCO, drums support for Asue/Ogie

…Mrs Ifeyinwa Ighodalo charges youths on active participation in politics

In an epoch making event, the Edo Youth Movement, EYM, on Saturday, 24th August 2024, inaugurated its EXCO, the 18 LGA Coordinators and 192 Ward Coordinators of the Peoples Democratic Party, support group in Edo State.

The inauguration which was performed at the head office of the Forum at 19, Ogbelaka street, off Sapele Road, Benin City, by the President of the group, Dr Vincent Aimienota, was witnessed by Mrs Ifeyinwa Ighodalo and other dignitaries kick-started an aggressive mobilization of youths, men and women across the State for Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie AiO2 ticket.

The leader of the Youth Movement, Dr Vincent Aimienota in his address, stated that the mission of the EYM is to support, promote and mobilize eligible voters to vote for candidates with capacity, character and competence in line with its slogan, which Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie represent.

Continuing, Aimienota noted that the youth movement has resolved to support Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie because they believe the duo are well prepared to transform Edo State.

According to him, few weeks to the 2024 governorship election in Edo State, it’s only Asue Ighodalo that has manifesto, a good plan on how he intends to transform Edo State. He’s the only candidate that has gone round the nooks and crannies of Edo State to tell the people what he would do differently and how he would do them. We believe he has good intentions towards our people, the elderly, men, women, youths and the children in Edo State.”

Aimienota added that for continuity and sustainability of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s transformation in all sectors and the 30 year master plan, Asue Ighodalo remains the best man to sustain this legacies. Edo must move forward. That is why we have decided to throw our weight behind Asue’s candidacy.”

Also speaking, a PDP chieftain Barr Austin Odion noted that the task to deliver Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie in the upcoming governorship poll is a task for everyone. He charged the EYM to sustain the momentum.

On her part, the Special Guest of honour at the event and wife of the PDP governorship candidate, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, who delivered a keynote speech on a topic titled: Youth Involvement In Politics And Ensuring Good Governance, noted that it is the youths of Nigeria that would change Nigeria, adding that the involvement of youths in politics is not optional but necessary. She charged the Edo youths to get involved in active politics to make their contributions to the progress and development of the state. In her lengthy speech, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ighodalo submitted that good governance is the bedrock of a prosperous society, where resources are managed efficiently for the benefit of every citizen.

She referred to Asue Ighodalo as the most suitable and competent Candidate to transform Edo State, among the Candidates parading themselves for the coveted seat, citing his unprecedented track records, his vision for Edo State and interest in the people. She noted that Asue Ighodalo has the experience, the exposure and right connections to take Edo State to the next level.

She appreciated the leader of Edo Youth Movement, the LGAs Coordinators, Wards Coordinators and members of the Youth Movement for choosing Asue Ighodalo as their preferred Candidate for the upcoming governorship poll, adding that her husband, the PDP Candidate Asue Ighodalo will fulfill his mandate of developing the youth and empowering the family through his clear cut program when elected.

Earlier, in their separate remarks, the LGA Coordinators assured Mrs Ifeyinwa Ighodalo that Edo Youth Movement is fully on ground in their respective local government areas and would mobilize their people on September 21 to vote massively for PDP.

The climax was a solidarity walk, which saw Mrs Ifeyinwa Ighodalo and members of Edo Youth Movement demonstrating their confidence in Asue Ighodalo’s capacity to lead Edo State to the Promise Land.
